Why Palmetto iTeach?
I teach students from all over the state of South Carolina as a high school science teacher with the South Carolina Virtual Charter School. Our students are taught exclusively online and our school serves students in grades K-12.
Why Blog?
I was the 2010-2011 South Carolina Public Charter School District Teacher of the Year and am currently serving on the SC Charter School Advisory Committee. I have found that many people are unaware of our district or misinformed aout the nature of charter schools in South Carolina. My hope is to help people better understand charter schools, the SC Public Charter School District and virtual education.
Why Me?
I feel I am adequately qualified to speak on best teaching practices and student engagement and achievement. I am state certified and national board certified with a Masters in Science Education, and have been teaching for 8 years in brick and mortar and virtual settings. In addition, I train new educators entering the field of education from other careers in the SC PACE program and serve as a mentor to new teachers. I was the first fully virtual district teacher of the year to compete in the SC State Teacher of the Year Program.
